Team work with PWRTeams
A website Redesign: PWRTeams
we had the opportunity to collaborate with PwrTeams, an international company that builds temporary remote teams for businesses in need of specialized talent. The goal was to redesign their website with two main objectives: increase the conversion rate from its current 3% and implement a new brand identity recently developed by their graphic design agency.
At the start of the project, our team conducted a heuristic evaluation and identified a key issue—the site’s messaging was too abstract. Visitors were left unsure of what PwrTeams actually offered. The language was vague, and important details were buried or missing entirely. Our hypothesis was that this lack of clarity was a major barrier to conversion. We initially attempted to validate our assumptions through surveys, but after a low response rate, we pivoted to conducting one-on-one user tests with professionals from our network who matched our target audience—CEOs, Project Managers, and Software Leads.
From these interviews and usability tests, we uncovered key pain points. Users felt a lack of transparency around pricing and services, which affected their trust and willingness to engage. However, pricing was a sensitive issue for the company, as rates varied widely and public disclosure could impact their competitive advantage. To address this, we explored alternatives like making the hidden salary guide more accessible and introducing interactive tools to provide clearer cost expectations without revealing sensitive business data.
We developed several design solutions, including a revamped home page layout, bento box-style content organization, staff skill profiles, and a salary guide banner to highlight value-driving resources. After user testing, we learned that the PDF format of the salary guide was too cumbersome. This insight led us to develop a more dynamic alternative: a step-by-step pricing calculator. This tool allowed users to input project details and receive an estimated cost breakdown via a graph. To enhance engagement and playfulness, we added a negotiation simulator, clearly labeled as a simulation, to help users explore pricing scenarios without compromising business confidentiality.
Incorporating the new branding, we also restructured the contact form based on user feedback and created high-fidelity prototypes of all key pages. If given more time, our next steps would include mobile and tablet responsiveness, further usability testing of the calculator, and tracking the new design’s impact on the conversion rate.
This project was a rewarding culmination of our UX/UI training—pushing us to balance user needs with business constraints, think creatively under pressure, and iterate with purpose.
